Tracker Season 3 Is at a Crossroads — One Wrong Move Could Break the Show

Tracker Season 3 Needs To Further Expand Reenie’s Role

The Showrunner Has Revealed Her World Will Grow

While Tracker season 3 will premiere in just a few short weeks, the series’ showrunner has been upfront about some of the changes that viewers will see in the upcoming episodes. One major change, amidst the larger casting changes, is that Rene’s Reenie seems like she’ll be more heavily featured as a part of Colter’s team and otherwise in the show’s universe.

Reenie, who’s been a fixture on Tracker since its start, is often seen as a foil to Colter, though the pair have more in common than they typically notice. Reenie has been shown to be impulsive and headstrong, and while she does so in a very different way than unstructured, rule-avoidant Colter, they’re always looking for a similar end goal.

Tracker has invested in Reenie’s stories in the past, but typically they’re formed around Colter’s trials and tribulations, which often makes her a supporting player. Moving forward, expanding Reenie’s inner life will allow Tracker to refocus some of its intensity into a secondary story, which will add dimension to both Reenie and Colter’s characters. This will create a deeper story for Tracker to tell overall.

How Tracker Can Balance Following Colter & Fleshing Out Reenie’s World

The Series Needs To Interweave Their Plots Consistently

Tracker season 2 saw some fans of the show struggling to move through the first half of the season’s arc, which featured Colter working through a cold case he felt a strong personal connection to. As the show moved away from its misstep, Reenie came back into the picture and reinvigorated the series, along with a group of other guest stars to join Hartley.

While Reenie’s stories were primarily a part of Colter’s, there were a stretch of episodes that saw her in a romantic relationship that ran into turmoil. With emotional resonance, exploring Reenie’s inner life was far more interesting for viewers than some of the other storylines throughout the season. Though Colter’s always a great character to watch, the differences between him and Reenie created a delicious tension.

Moving into Tracker season 3, expanding Reenie’s world will allow the show to add more depth to all of its characters while exploring stories outside of Colter’s typical case-of-the-week. The show will be able to balance its stories by keeping Colter and Reenie in contact, and ensuring that the storylines are symbiotic in some way, even if it’s only thematic.

Why Reenie Is The Key To Tracker’s Longevity

She’s A Key Part Of The Story, But Has A Different Perspective

Though Colter is a great main character and will continue to be the lead of Tracker regardless of what happens with anyone else, Reenie is someone who viewers can sink their teeth into as the show expands its universe. Reenie, who tends to be the moral center of Colter’s universe, is someone who viewers already care about and trust, which makes her a great source of conflict.

Even if things between Colter and Reenie are difficult as Tracker season 3 gets underway, it’s clear that their relationship is something that will continuously endure throughout the series. Complicating it would be interesting, and leaning more into Reenie’s life without Colter will make her an even bigger part of the show’s internal makeup. Reenie is an important part of Tracker, and matters implicitly to Colter’s story.

As Tracker season 3 sets itself up to be a vastly different undertaking than the previous seasons, the show appearsto be taking a leap to expand its storytelling. By involving Reenie in more of Tracker’s roadmap, the show will be able to create some contrast in Colter’s story, making him a more interesting character. Tracker has the chance to infinitely improve its universe.
