SAD NEWS! Tracker Season 3’s Exits Force Colter To Do What He Avoided For 1.5 Years

The original characters exiting in Tracker season 3 will indubitably change the crime drama, but they can also force Colter Shaw to finally do something he has avoided for almost two years. Teddi’s exit ahead of Tracker season 2 already shrank the ensemble cast, but it didn’t influence the show narratively, except for Velma’s storylines and how it felt nebulous.

Abby McEnany and Eric Graise’s exits before Tracker season 3 are nevertheless unlikely to give the show the same leeway regarding Velma and Bobby’s whereabouts as Teddi’s departure. Tracker season 3 will have to tackle them, even if Colter often refused to discuss his feelings. This can finally make something happen that was first asked of Colter in season 1.

Losing His Team Has To Push Colter Closer To Those Remaining In Tracker Season 3

Being alone and content about it has been Colter’s core characteristic since Tracker’s series premiere, with his unusual survivalist upbringing and his job as a rewardist making that inescapable. While that made the story more interesting due to Colter changing scenery after each episode, it also highlighted Colter’s aloofness as his biggest flaw in Tracker when his team was involved.

Tracker season 1, episode 7, “Chicago” was the first time Colter, Reenie, and Bobby were all together in the same place, with Colter and Bobby working together to find Sun Mai, and Reenie helping Sun’s mother with their visa problems. Despite the pressure from Reenie and Bobby to spend time together after successfully solving the case, Colter kept his distance.

That moment established Colter’s overreliance solely on himself, something that returned in his bond with his siblings and his team alike. However, this cannot be his reaction to the key departures of Bobby and Velma in Tracker season 3. With the latest exits, Colter’s team goes from five to two members, leaving him with not many still close to him.

It’s yet unknown how Tracker will motivate Velma and Bobby’s exits. Still, whether the reasons are tragic or mundane, Tracker cannot avoid pushing Colter to take stock of what he still has in Randy and Reenie. This can finally lead to Colter being explicitly grateful, opening to them at last after years of acting purposefully distant.

How Tracker Season 3 Cannot Avoid Colter Relying On Reenie & Others

Colter’s ease with being alone was always emphasized in Tracker, with the crime drama often highlighting how Colter preferred the solitude that he knew over the companionship or collaboration that felt foreign to him. Indeed, Colter might have easily worked with law enforcement officers on a case, but he rarely opened up to others in his personal life.

Tracker showed that it wasn’t because Colter didn’t want to. A common thread uniting Billie’s appearance in Tracker season 2 to Colter and Reenie’s drink after the ordeal with Leo Sharf’s company that led to Reenie’s kidnapping highlighted Colter’s willingness to be more open about his feelings, refusing to close himself off. These moments were nevertheless fleeting.

Colter’s wish to be closer to others cannot be forgotten in Tracker season 3, especially after Tracker season 2’s ending revelations. Everything that happened, coupled with Tracker season 3’s exits, pave the way for Colter to rely on Reenie, Randy, Russell, and Dory less guardedly, in a way that he can finally trust they’ll be there when he needs them.
