“Certainly Very Broken”: Max Thieriot Previews Bode’s Reaction To Vince’s Fate In Fire Country Season 4
As Fire Country gears up for its highly anticipated Season 4 premiere on CBS, star and co-creator Max Thieriot has dropped intriguing hints about the emotional turmoil awaiting Bode Leone following the devastating Season 3 finale. The gut-wrenching cliffhanger left fans reeling, with Vince Leone (Billy Burke), Sharon Leone (Diane Farr), and Walter Leone (Jeff Fahey) trapped in a collapsing building during the Zabel Ridge wildfire. With reports confirming Burke’s departure from the series, speculation is rife that Vince’s fate is sealed, setting the stage for a heart-wrenching arc for Bode in the upcoming season.

In a recent red carpet interview with TVLine, Thieriot shared his concerns about how Vince’s potential death could shatter Bode, who has fought hard to rebuild his life after prison. “Bode has obviously gone through a lot of hardship,” Thieriot said. “Every time he feels like he’s coming out the other side, something happens. So I worry what [Vince’s death] would do to him, and how poorly he would respond.” He described Bode as “certainly very broken,” hinting at a dark and challenging path ahead for the former inmate turned firefighter.
The Season 3 finale saw Bode defy Vince’s orders to rest, joining his grandfather Walter to evacuate the Buena Vista memory care facility. While their efforts saved residents, including Walter’s friend Otto, the situation spiraled when Vince and Sharon rushed into the burning building to rescue them. The roof’s collapse left their fates uncertain, but with Billy Burke’s reported exit, fans fear Vince will not survive. This loss could unravel Bode’s progress, especially since he and Vince had only recently mended their fractured relationship, a cornerstone of the series’ emotional core.
Thieriot, also an executive producer, emphasized the show’s commitment to evolving its narrative. “We’re motivated to push the envelope and bring compelling characters and storytelling,” he told Collider, hinting at surprises that could soften the blow of Vince’s potential exit. With Bode facing not only his father’s uncertain fate but also Gabriela’s departure (following Stephanie Arcila’s exit), Season 4 is poised to test his growth like never before. Fans can expect a raw, emotional journey when Fire Country returns this fall on CBS, airing Fridays at 9 PM ET.
